My life and work have moved me through many places. I was born in Beverwijk, lived and worked in different parts of the Netherlands, including Brabant, The Hague, Amsterdam, Heemskerk and Noordwijk, and spent several formative years in Dubai. For shorter periods I also lived in Portugal and Germany. I studied, taught, directed, advised, painted, sculpted and kept returning to the same question: how can experience become form?
Ambro Louwe is a Netherlands-based artist whose work explores the point where form begins to shift and lose stability.
Working through layering, disruption, and material processes, his paintings develop as fields of tension rather than fixed compositions.
Color functions as an active force within the image, shaping and breaking structure simultaneously.
Alongside his studio practice, he has an extensive background in teaching and guiding movement-based sessions, which informs his sensitivity to rhythm, balance, and physical presence within the work.
